On the occasion of the World Cancer Day on May 28, Aurora-Together Against Hematological Diseases, organizes the Aurora Virtual Run.
The aim of the race is, through sports, to raise public awareness about hematological diseases as well as about the work of Aurora.
The Aurora Virtual Run is designed to protect public health and support the implementation of state measures to limit the spread of Covid-19.
The Aurora Virtual Run will take place from Friday 14 May to Friday 4 June and will include walking or running events for adults and children on the following distances: 2km, 5km, 10km, 21km, 50km bike, as well as two “Challenges” for advanced athletes the “The Olympus Challenge ”- 44 km with an altitude gain of 3,170m and the “ 100k Challenge ” with the kind support of:

Registration opens on Friday 14 May and ends on Tuesday 01 June.

PARTICIPATION GUIDE
1) Registration
Register by clicking the Sign Up button
The package includes:
- Participation in the virtual race and the results
- Digital registration number
- Digital diploma of participation
Entry fee: 5€ or 10€ or 15€ or 20€. The 2km race is free of charge.
2) BIB number email
After completing your registration and payment, you will receive an email with your registration number (Bib number) within 2 days after your payment is validated!
3) Race
You can run or walk the distance you have chosen, any time from Sunday 16 May to Friday 04 June, anywhere in the world.
After completing your distance, take a photo that proves your performance (photo from your smart watch, mobile application screenshot, etc.) and by clicking the Submit Results button fill in your details, your Bib number, your time and upload the proof of your performance.
You have the opportunity, with a single registration, to run the distance as many times as you wish and improve your performance.
Regarding the “The Olympus Challenge”, this is equivalent to the ascending to the summit of Mount Olympus and descending again, as is the case with the race Olympus Marathon. It must be completed within the days that the race will take place, from May 16 to June 4. Each participant can divide his effort into as many segments as he wishes and keep proofs from the separate efforts, which in total should add to 44 km and 3,170 meters positive altitude difference, equivalent to 17,611 steps. All files (photos from smart watch, mobile application or from the screen of a treadmill, etc.) should be compressed into one file .zip and uploaded clicking the “Submit results button”, filling in also the participants details and bib number.
Regarding the “100k Challenge” this should be completed within the days that the race will take place, from May 16 to June 4. Each participant can divide his effort into as many segments as he wishes and keep proofs from the separate efforts, which in total should add to 100 km regardless of the positive altitude difference. All files (photos from smart watch, mobile application or from the screen of a treadmill, etc.) should be compressed into one file .zip and uploaded clicking the “Submit results button”, filling in also the participants details and bib number.
4) Results
The results of each race will be updated every 3 days.
The race will end on Friday 04 June and the final results will be finalized on the next day.
Aurora Virtual Run has no electronic timing, nor judges.
The whole project depends on the honor code of each runner.
After all, the goal is the participation and not the victory!
